Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lead Lymphoedema Nurse Specialist to work within the Specialist Lymphoedema Service based in Kendal, providing a service for patients across Morecambe Bay.
The role requires you to be flexible. You should have excellent time management skills and be able to prioritise your workload daily. The successful applicant will support the service in development and implementing new ways of working.
The role includes performing as a specialist nurse in all aspects of Lymphoedema care, and applicants must have a relevant specialist qualification. The role will include undertaking an assessment of patients with Lymphoedema considering safe and effective care in the on-going assessment, Doppler and hosiery/compression and implementing plans of care and lifestyle changes, to enhance quality of life for patients living with Lymphoedema.

Manages own patient caseload, providing expert advice, education and support for patients, their families and carers regarding their on-going care and condition.
Using face to face clinics , telephone , e-mail and letter to communicate highly complex and sensitive information effectively with patient and their carers recognising that individuals have differing needs for information at different phases of their illness, by using active listening, emotional engagement , empathy, tact, openness reassurance counselling, and emotional assessment to overcome patient anxiety, fear, altered perception, any mental health problems or cognitive impairment that may impair understanding and informed decision making and consent.
