The Clinical Lead will provide senior clinical leadership across the Children & Young People (CYP) Autism (ASD) and ADHD pathways, ensuring safe, timely, NICE aligned assessment and formulation in accordance with:

The role does not replace Consultant responsibilities. Consultant Paediatrics / Consultant CYP Psychiatry retain ultimate diagnostic governance, statutory signoff, and oversight of complex or high risk cases.
Main duties of the job
Provide senior clinical leadership for CYP ASD and ADHD pathways, ensuring alignment with SOPs and NICE guidance. Lead weekly MDTs with Consultant involvement and support triage of complex cases, comorbidity questions and safeguarding concerns. Contribute to audits, case reviews and quality improvement.
Deliver ASD and ADHD assessments including developmental histories, parent interviews, school liaison, observational input and clear diagnostic reports. Complete multi-setting ADHD assessments, functional impact evaluation, differential formulation and feedback, preparing handovers for Consultant signoff.
Provide day-to-day supervision to Band 7 clinicians and assistants, supporting consistent documentation and communication. Promote reflective practice, peer learning and maintain competency frameworks.
Maintain Level 3 Safeguarding, escalate concerns appropriately and contribute to risk assessments. Support service KPIs, governance activity and SOP development. Act as a clinical contact for families, schools, SEND teams, CAMHS and Community Paediatrics, ensuring clear and compassionate communication throughout the diagnostic pathway.
