Adult ADHD Assessor & Reviewer (Prescribing Route)

As an Adult ADHD Assessor & Reviewer (Prescribing), youll blend structured diagnostic assessments, clear family-centred feedback, and safe medication initiation/titration in a model designed around NICE guidance and good patient experience. Your day might start with a focused video assessment, move to brief titration check-ins, then finish with an MDT discussion and shared-care handover back to the GP once stable. We protect your clinical time with standardised templates, same-day letters and realistic clinic templates so you can do what matters most: help people function better at home, work and in relationships.

• Deliver NICE-aligned adult ADHD assessments (history, impairment, co-morbidity, risk) and provide clear feedback and written plans.

• Prescribe and adjust stimulant/non-stimulant medication within local formulary; arrange/interpret baselines and monitoring.

• Run brief titration contacts (phone/video) to stability, then complete safe shared-care transfer to primary care (EPS & templates).

• Keep contemporaneous records and produce high-quality letters on the day.

• Bring complex cases to the weekly MDT; contribute to audit, incident learning and quality improvement.

• Support induction and day-to-day coaching for colleagues; uphold safeguarding, consent/capacity and information governance at all times.

• One of: NMC Nurse V300 IP, GPhC Clinical Pharmacist IP, or GMC GP with recent UK adult ADHD experience.

• Confident with initiation, titration and adverse-effect management; understands shared-care pathways.

• Strong communicator, calm under pressure, organised with time and documentation; values equity, diversity and inclusion.

• Predictable hours (MonFri, 95), no on-call.

• Supportive MDT (Consultant Psychiatrist, GP Lead, Psychology) and protected admin time.

• Realistic clinic templates (e.g., 6090 min assessment; 30 min feedback; 30 min initiation; 1015 min titration calls).

• CPD, supervision and genuine scope to shape how care is delivered.

Hybrid clinics with face-to-face capacity at Worcester/Redditch hubs for baselines, complex reviews and patient choice.

Experience

Essential

• Recent UK experience delivering adult ADHD clinics within the last 1224 months.
• Conducting structured diagnostic assessments and producing clear, clinically reasoned reports.
• Initiation and titration of stimulant and non-stimulant ADHD medicines as an independent prescriber, with safe dose optimisation and review.
• Running remote titration follow-ups and preparing shared-care handovers to primary care, including EPS prescribing.
• Managing adverse effects and medicines risks; arranging and interpreting baseline and monitoring parameters (for example blood pressure, pulse, weight, relevant bloods).
• Working effectively in an MDT, presenting complex cases and agreeing care plans.
• Safeguarding practice at Level 3, with timely escalation and documentation.
• High standard of clinical records and same-day clinic letters using service templates and NHS systems.

Desirable

• Leadership of an Adult ADHD caseload in primary or community services, or GPwER portfolio experience.
• Experience with ECG interpretation clinics or close liaison on cardiometabolic risk in ADHD prescribing.
• Use of objective measures and validated scales in assessment and review.
• Teaching, supervision or mentorship of junior clinicians; contribution to induction.
• Leading audit or quality-improvement projects, incident learning and SOP development.
• Managing complex co-morbidity (for example anxiety, depression, autistic spectrum conditions, substance misuse) and reasonable adjustments for work or study.
• Familiarity with performance dashboards and pathway KPIs, and using data to improve flow and outcomes.

Qualifications

Essential

• Professional registration (one route):
• NMC registered nurse (RMN, or RN with substantial mental health experience) with V300 Independent Prescriber annotation; or
• GPhC registered clinical pharmacist with Independent Prescriber annotation; or
• Relevant degree aligned to registration (BSc Nursing, MPharm, MBBS/MBChB or equivalent).
• Recent ADHD-specific CPD or formal training relevant to adult assessment and prescribing (for example UKAAN modules) within the last 24 months.
• Safeguarding Children Level 3 (or commitment to complete on appointment).
• Competence in remote consultation and electronic prescribing within NHS clinical systems (training evidence or portfolio).
• Evidence of continuing professional development, reflective practice and appraisal revalidation appropriate to the registering body.

Desirable

• Postgraduate qualification in advanced practice or clinical assessment (for example MSc Advanced Clinical Practice, PGCert Advanced Physical Assessment).
• Advanced ADHD prescribing/titration CPD (for example UKAAN advanced masterclasses) and audited cases.
• Physical health monitoring competencies, such as ECG interpretation course and baseline cardiovascular assessment training.
• Training in motivational interviewing, psycho-education, or related behavioural interventions.
• QbTest or other objective attention testing training and interpretation exposure.
• Teaching, supervision or mentorship training (for example Practice Supervisor/Assessor, DMP/DPP experience).
