Weldmars Hotel Services team is looking for a
positive and experienced individual who can assist in maintaining the highest
levels of
cleanliness at our sites.
Enhancements for working weekends and bank holidays

Main duties of the job
As a
hospice charity, Weldmar Hospicecares Inpatient Unit, and other sites, require
the highest standards of cleanliness. As a Hotel Services Assistant, you will
primarily be responsible for following cleaning schedules in areas such as patient wards and family areas,
offices, catering facilities and Orangery restaurant, making sure that
infection prevention guidelines are followed.
We are
looking for an individual with a positive and flexible approach, as the role
includes a variety of tasks across both Housekeeping and Catering.
Ideally, youll have proven work
experience in Hospitality or healthcare establishment, and have a good customer
service ethos with the ability to work with sensitivity, tact and discretion
around patients.
You should have, or be prepared
to work towards, BICS license to
practice, CIEH accredited food hygiene level 2 or higher, and have
knowledge of infection prevention principles. Training for basic IT skills is
available.
A Standard Disclosure and
Barring Service (DBS) Check is required.

Hospicecare provides specialist care to adults in Dorset with a life limiting
illness, and support to their loved ones. This care is given in the comfort of
patients own homes, in the community, and at our Inpatient Unit in Dorchester.
All care is provided free of charge and mainly funded by the continued support
of our local community, via fundraising initiatives and events, our retail
chain, and gifts left in wills, enabling us to raise the £27,500 we need every
day to keep our services going.

Job responsibilities
To work as an integral part of the Hotel Services Team with responsibility for cleaning all areas of the Inpatient Unit and any other buildings or areas of the organisation as required. To ensure the highest standards of cleanliness are maintained and minimising the risk and spread of infection. The role works across the Hotel Services Department to include Housekeeping and Catering.
The team provide services to several facilities with very different requirements throughout the buildings including, Wellbeing dining room, the In Patient Unit (IPU) patient meal services, The Orangery restaurant [open to the public], the staff meals and lunch area and any other buildings or areas of the organisation as required.
Scope and Limits of Authority
- The post holder works under supervision and follows schedules, guidelines, and Charity policies and procedures relevant to the department
- The post holder is responsible for safe and efficient use of resources, , cleaning and catering equipment and cleaning materials
- The post holder follows daily and periodic schedules, guidelines and Weldmar Hospicecare policies and procedures relevant to own role. Ensures cleaning equipment and store cupboards are maintained appropriately. Completes standard operating procedures (SOP) for the required tasks.
Job tasks
Cleans all areas of the Inpatient Unit and any other buildings or areas of the organisation as required, ensuring cleaning schedules are followed, infection control guidelines are adhered to at all times and work is recorded on log sheets
To carry out tasks in occasional unpleasant conditions heat and smells (steam cleaning and using machinery and equipment such as ozone generating systems for clinical decontamination.
To have a full working knowledge of Infection prevention methods and knowledge in controlling and decontaminating all areas and non-medical equipment within the inpatient unit
To carry out hotel service assistant cleaning tasks in distressing or emotional circumstances.
Replenish water jugs for patients daily. Provide fresh water jugs and beakers depending on patient requirements.
To carry out any other duties as required by the Hotel Services Management Team.

- Will have or be willing to work toward an apprenticeship as hospitality team member (housekeeping) level 2, the British Institute of cleaning science (BICS) licence to practice and Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
- Knowledge of effective cleaning methods & materials and infection prevention.
- Awareness of the importance of ensuring cleaning is undertaken with regard to health and safety practices
- Good understanding of Care of Substances Hazardous to Health [COSHH] and cleaning requirements within a healthcare setting
