Weldmar Hospicecare is part of Your Hospice Lottery, with ticket sales providing regular, sustainable income for the charity. We're looking for someone with marketing and sales skills to help unlock the potential income from these lottery ticket sales online and in our chain of charity shops.

Main duties of the job

Working with both our Fundraising and Marketing and Communications teams, you'll deliver professional campaigns to boost awareness of the lottery and secure regular players. You'll be expected to recommend and implement innovative and engaging ways to increase the number of lottery players, improve the retention of existing supporters and ensure all activities are fully compliant.

Were looking for somebody who is confident with various communication styles, including over the phone, as you will be using your exceptional sales and negotiation skills to encourage supporters to retain or increase their lottery support for the charity. About Weldmar Hospicecare: Rated Outstanding by the CQC, Weldmar Hospicecare provides specialist care to adults in Dorset with a life limiting illness, and support to their loved ones. This care is given in the comfort of patients own homes, in the community, and at our Inpatient Unit in Dorchester. All care is provided free of charge and mainly funded by the continued support of our local community, via fundraising initiatives and events, our retail chain, and gifts left in wills, enabling us to raise the £27,500 we need every day to keep our services going.

Weldmar Hospicecare is an independent charity that provides specialist end of life care to patients and those that are important to them throughout Dorset. This care is given in the comfort of patients own homes by Weldmar Community Nurses, via Wellbeing Support Sessions held across the county or as patients at our Inpatient Unit in Dorchester. Our team of dedicated staff and volunteers ensure that we can continue to support patients through one of lifes most difficult journeys. We work closely with other health care providers including the NHS to ensure that our patients receive the highest possible care.

We do receive some funding from the NHS but the majority of our income is generated by our fundraising and retail teams, which plays a vital part in securing income to fund our care, both now and in the future.

Job Purpose

The Lottery Sales and Marketing Coordinator is responsible for maximising both income and awareness of the lottery operation at Weldmar Hospicecare.

Working within a strong and supportive fundraising team, you will be expected to advise, recommend and implement innovative and engaging ways to increase the number of lottery players, improve the retention of existing supporters and reduce cancellations.

You will use your marketing experience to rollout cost effective recruitment campaigns in collaboration with Weldmars Marketing and Communications team, tracking and reporting key measurables.

You will be confident with various communication styles, including over the phone, using your exceptional sales and negotiation skills to encourage supporters to retain or increase their lottery support for the charity.

You will ensure that all lottery activities and marketing complies with charity and gambling law, fundraising regulations and general data protection regulations, ensuring that all activities are delivered professionally.

Scope and Accountability

Reporting to the Head of Fundraising, the Lottery Sales and Marketing Coordinator will advise, implement and deliver a programme for growing lottery product income for the charity, whilst increasing retention and reducing cancellations

You will have your own agreed key performance indicators and measurable targets, which you will report regularly to the Head of Fundraising

You will create innovative and engaging cost-effective recruitment campaigns, in partnership with our Marketing and Communications team, across a number of platforms including digital and traditional media.

You will retain strong relationships with the wider fundraising team, colleagues in Marketing and Communications as well as our external lottery provider.

You will build and maintain strong relationships with lottery players, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and engagement.

You will have the ability to analyse sales to identity opportunities for improvement and growth, as well as provide regular reports detailing performance, challenges and opportunities for lottery growth.

Job tasks

Responsibilities will include but not be restricted to:

Customer Relations and Relationships

Maintain an active presence in the local community to promote and sell the lottery to groups, businesses and local people.

Build and maintain strong relationships with lottery players, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and engagement

Work with the Fundraising Leads to deliver excellent stewardship for all lottery players, whilst implementing a recognition programme, taking into account various milestones to demonstrate Weldmars appreciation for a donors continued support

Use listening and empathic skills when talking with patients, relatives and in memory supporters who may wish to support Weldmar Hospicecare via the lottery

Build and retain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders including the lottery provider, internal fundraising, marketing and communications, retail and clinical teams across the charity

Responsible for ensuring ongoing stewardship of lottery players by making welcome and thank you phone calls

Sales operation and growth

Monitor and analyse sales data to identify opportunities for improvement and growth

Coordinate with colleagues in both the fundraising and marketing and communications teams to develop promotional campaigns and materials that drive measurable sales

Deliver cost effective lottery specific campaigns that will reach agreed target audiences across both digital and traditional marketing platforms, increasing player recruitment

Use your telephone and face to face sales skills to encourage existing players to increase their lottery subscription

Monitor and analyse cancellation data and trends to implement an approach to reduce cancellations and increase retention rate

Ensure all sales activities comply with the lottery regulations and company policies

Grow and implement sales strategies and actions to maximise revenue growth through increasing sales through new and existing supporters

Analyse player and supporter trends and preferences to inform the direction of sales for the lottery product
