We are currently recruiting for a
senior staff nurse to join our Childrens Community Hospice Care team for a
fixed term maternity cover.
We are looking for an experienced
Registered Childrens Nurse with some knowledge and experience of community
nursing, Oncology, Complex Care and/or Childrens Palliative Care. You will
have excellent clinical skills and enthusiasm for working within this
discipline, but being a nurse at ellenor isnt just about nursing. Its about being able to think creatively and
really make a difference to a familys challenging journey, enabling a child to
live as normal and fulfilling a life as possible. At ellenor we recognise that having a sick
child impacts the whole family, and we make sure the services we offer are
there for everyone. The role is very
varied, can be tough but is also hugely rewarding.
The
hours are predominantly between Mon to Fri 8:30 -5:30 including bank holidays,
but you will also be expected to work flexibly to support a 24-hour 7 day on
call service when a child is requiring end of life care at home.
Main duties of the job
Working as part of an integrated multidisciplinary team, the purpose of this role is to facilitate optimum quality of life for children, young people and their families with life limiting or life-threatening conditions. This will be achieved in collaboration with children, young people and families and other professionals. The provision of palliative care nursing interventions is based on comprehensive holistic assessment, goal focused care planning and includes education and support for patients and families. Support and training regarding childrens palliative care is provided for other health and social care professionals. The role, as part of a multi-disciplinary team, supports primary care key workers in the delivery of high-quality palliative and end of life care, through partnership working. The care will focus on quality of life for the child, young person, and family, and will include the management of distressing symptoms, care through death and bereavement and the provision of short breaks. The post holder will work under the supervision of Clinical Nurse Specialists and the clinical Lead and work with colleagues in the extended Childrens Hospice at Home team as appropriate and participate in practice development.

Gravesham and Swanley, and also provide respite care to children in Bexley. Our
services at the hospice in Gravesend include adult in-patient and day therapy as well as wellbeing and 24-hour Hospice at
