Job summary
Proposed salary: Band 4.1 to 4.10 on the ABC pay scale, which is equivalent to £25,148.94 - £30,055.31 per
annum dependent on experience (pro rata)
Hours of work: Monday to Friday:
9:00 to 14:00. 25 hours per week.
Tenure: Fixed Term Contract to 31st January 2027

Main duties of the job
Working under the
direct supervision of the Lead Nurse and strictly in accordance with specific
guidelines and protocols, the phlebotomist will assist the clinical team in
daily phlebotomy clinics within our Refugee and Asylum Seeker Service.

Job responsibilities
Working in accordance with specific practice guidelines and
protocols, the phlebotomist will:
- Assist the clinical team in the provision and
delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.
- Ensuring that the patient is as comfortable and
relaxed as possible and confirming their agreement to the collection of a blood
sample
- Collection of samples of blood in accordance
with training and procedure
- Ensuring samples are stored in appropriate
containers
- Accurate, legible labelling of all samples to
confirm patient identity
- Recording information on the clinical IT system
in accordance with ABC procedure
- Processing and management of laboratory samples
requested by GPs/nurses
- Sterilising, cleansing and maintenance of
phlebotomy equipment, adhering to all infection control guidelines
- Phlebotomy equipment and re-stocking
- Clearing and re-stocking consulting room
- Chaperoning duties
- To take part in meetings, supervision, training
as requested by the manager.
