Health Care Assistant - Refugee and Asylum Seeker Service

Job summary

Working under the direct supervision of the Lead Nurse and strictly in accordance with specific guidelines and protocols, the Healthcare Assistant will assist the clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care. This is a 12 month fixed term contract until December 2026.

  • Working alongside clinicians in the Equity and Refugee and Asylum Seeker Service to deliver health checks and vaccinations
  • Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms
  • Ordering of consumables and equipment maintanence
  • Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being
  • Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted
  • Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being
  • Supporting patient communication which may include appointment bookings and telephone contact with patients
  • Administrative duties for the set up of clinics on site at Crowborough

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working collaboratively with other agencies
  • Experience of working with individuals in a health promotion role
  • Experience of managing own time and diary

Desirable

  • Previous experience of working in a Primary Care Setting
  • Previous experience of working in an acute setting

Skills and Knowledge

Essential

  • Able to undertake supervised assessment of individuals, families and the community
  • Able to prioritise and manage time effectively
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Negotiation skills
  • Computer literacy skills/ input of data
  • Effective documentation and compliance with IG
  • Competent in recording 12-Lead ECGs

  • Experience of working with Clinical Systems (EMIS or SystemOne)
  • Competent in phlebotomy

  • GCSE Grade A-C in Maths and English
  • Must hold a valid UK driving license
