Poundhill
Medical Group are looking for an experienced Practice Manager and Business
Manager to join their team. These roles will work closely together to provide
strong leadership to ensure that the practice is run in an effective and
sustainable manner.
As
a Business Manager you will need strong problem solving and analytical skills
with a professional and flexible approach.
Full time/part time will be considered.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will support the Practice Manager in providing strong leadership to ensure that the practice is run in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
The focus will be on managing the practices business efficiency and profitability; meeting agreed standards of quality in patient services provision, financial management, and IT management.

Duties & Responsibilities
Partnership support:
- Work with the Practice Manager to run the annual strategic planning and review cycle for the partnership
- Take ownership of the business development opportunities and business risk mitigation elements of the practice strategic plan each year
- Develop appropriate bids for resources required to achieve practice developments
Finance:
Line manage the Deputy Manager and act as back up for key duties and hold overall responsibility for the following:
- Oversee and ensure sound financial controls
- Ensure the efficient and timely administration of all payroll processes and pension schemes
- Plan the practice cashflow and report to the partners on a quarterly basis
- Oversee the preparation of annual accounts, including partners drawings, superannuation and NIC
- Regularly assess the overall cost-benefit of possible courses of action open to the partnership (including service developments) and make appropriate recommendations
- Keep up to date with all mandated and optional service development opportunities, maximise the practice profitability
Contracting:
- Regularly review and recommend adjustments or updates to the Practice Business Plan
- Ensure that the practice is accurately contracted as required by the strategic and business plans at all times
- Build and maintain effective relationships with commissioning teams and with colleagues from other organisations with whom the practice is working closely with
- Oversee and ensure sound supplier management across the practice, supporting colleagues as needed in this area of work
Primary Care Network:
- Represent the practice in the PCN with regard to business decisions
- Contribute to development work or the sharing of best practice within the PCN as agreed with the PCN board
- Maintain an oversight of the PCN financial position to ensure fair share of resource with the practice
Information Governance and Technology:
- Recommend where systems can be improved showing benefits to be achieved
- Train staff / self where appropriate and handle day to day IT issues in conjunction with the Practices IT service providers
- Maintain monitoring procedures for the GMS contract
- Ensure compliance with all relevant Data Protection regulations and other legislative requirements that affect the practice in terms of IT or Digital areas of work
- Formulate in conjunction with the Practice Manager, the IT plan required to support the current business plan and subsequent implementation
- Lead for the annual DSP toolkit submission and learning cycle
- Investigate and share the learning from relevant successes, significant events and near misses, in particular with regard to information governance
Patient records and the Quality Outcomes Framework:
- Line manage the Admin Lead for the practice
- Ensure compliance with all relevant Data Protection regulations and other legislative requirements that affect the practice in terms of IT or Digital areas of work
- Ensure the all patient records management in the practice is efficient and safe at all times
- Oversee a culture and processes that support learning and improvement in practice Admin
- Investigate and share the learning from relevant successes, significant events and near misses, in particular with regard to the safe transfer of care between organisations
Contribution to the Implementation of Services:
- Apply Practice policies, standards and guidance
- Discuss with other members of the team how the policies, standards and guidelines will affect own work
- Participate in audit where appropriate
