As a Trainee Supervising Practitioner, you will be part of our amazing Mental Health Support Team (MHST), an innovative programme transforming how young people access early mental health support. Our MHSTs focus on prevention, early intervention and removing barriers that delay help and frustrate families.

In this role, you will work closely with a wide range of professionals to ensure children and young people get the right support at the right time. You will develop your skills in CBT-informed supervision, supported by experienced clinicians and a dynamic, values-driven team committed to creativity, inclusion and continuous learning.

We don`t believe in one-size-fits-all services. Our support is shaped by local voices, blending evidence-based practice with innovation and real-world need.

You will begin on a Band E salary, moving to Band F once your training course starts.

Main duties of the job

You are ready to commit to a demanding yet deeply rewarding opportunity, combining postgraduate study with meaningful clinical practice. You are passionate about early intervention and motivated to grow into a role that helps shape the future of mental health support for children and young people.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Education Mental Health Practitioner or Mental Health Practitioner qualification
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Supervision, or willingness to complete during the role
  • Two years post qualification experience delivering therapeutic support to children and young people
  •  Experience of line management/delivering clinical supervision
  • CBT informed supervision experience within education settings
  • Experience in community or educational environments
  • Strong safeguarding and risk management skills
  • Excellent leadership, communication and time management skills
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle

Desirable attributes include postgraduate therapeutic qualifications, mentorship experience and previous leadership within children and young people services. Experience inducting staff or contributing to skill mix teams is beneficial.

Qualifications

Essential

  • BABCP/BPS Full membership registered professional with CBT degree (like EMHP)
  • Or
  • Core professional qualification (with registrations) relevant to mental health e.g. HCPC, NMC, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Nursing, Psychotherapy, Art Therapy etc.
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Willingness to complete post Graduate Certificate in Supervision at University as required
