Compass is delighted to be selected as a new provider of Mental Health Support Teams in education settings in Birmingham North (Great Barr) working in partnership to meet the emotional health and wellbeing needs of children and young people across the North of the City. We will be working in partnership with health, care and education in the local area from September 2023.
Team Leaders will commence in our Mental Health Support Team from 4/09/23
This role is an opportunity to help shape the services we provide with children, young people, families and educational settings and to develop your career in mental health support.
The Team Leader role works alongside new and existing colleagues to develop MHSTs with focus on building partnerships with education settings in North/North East of the City to drive the implementation of highly effective and CYPF focussed mental health and wellbeing services in line with the national MHST framework; managing supervising and innovating with practitioners.
Main duties of the job
Compass Birmingham, is an early intervention mental health and emotional wellbeing service. The service delivers evidenced based interventions for children and young people with mild to moderate mental health needs.
It is part of the MHST Trailblazer Programme, which has been commissioned following the Transforming Children and Young Peoples Mental Health Care Provision: A Green Paper (2017).
You will need to demonstrate in your application that you have a degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field such as a nationally recognised, broadly-based, health or social work qualification which must be registered with the appropriate governing body, e.g. BABCP or NMC or an equivalent extensive experience in leading emotional health, wellbeing or pastoral services for children and young people. Clinical qualification and a developed knowledge of CBT is advantageous.
Candidates will either have a Post Graduate qualification in supervision and/or management or ability and willingness to undertake further training.
Applicants must have excellent communication skills and be able to network with other agencies as central to the role.
You must possess a full driving licence and have access to a vehicle. An enhanced level DBS check is required for this role.

Essential

- Knowledge of safety factors in the management of self-harming behaviours and safeguarding issues and have the skills to be able to apply knowledge appropriately with complex cases.
