Brandon Centre is a well-established mental health charity dedicated to supporting Young People and their families in our community with compassion and care. We're looking for a reliable and conscientious cleaner to help maintain a welcoming, safe, and hygienic environment.
You'll play a vital role in creating a clean and comfortable space that enhances the experience of both staff and service users helping to ensure our building is a place that mirrors our values of compassion, inclusion and respect.
Our outgoing cleaner has been with us for many years and takes pride in the high standards they've upheld. We are now looking for someone equally trustworthy and detail-oriented to take on this important role.

Main duties of the job
As our cleaner, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of our charity's building, including offices, therapy rooms, communal areas, and restrooms. Your work will ensure the environment is safe, comfortable, and welcoming for both staff and service users. You'll carry out daily cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and waste disposal, while paying close attention to detail and following health and safety standards. You'll also help with occasional deep cleaning tasks. Your role is essential in supporting the smooth running of our charity and contributing to a positive atmosphere where everyone feels respected and cared for.

psychological and social needs of young people under 25 years
and their families.

Mental Health and Wellbeing Services including individual
Counselling & Psychotherapy for young people, Systemic Integrative
Treatment for families using a range of evidence-based therapies and
therapeutic work and a variety of innovative outreach projects in community
settings.
Clinical Training and Consultancy including healthy
living, parent programmes and other group work.

Location: 26 Prince of Wales Road, London, NW5 3LG
Working Hours: 2 hours per day Monday to Friday, before or after our usual opening times, as per the successful applicant's preference.
Reports to: Operations Manager
Clean and maintain all areas of the building, including offices, therapy rooms, toilets, kitchens and communal spaces.
Carry out daily cleaning duties such as vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting, and emptying bins.
Ensure all cleaning is completed to a high standard, following health and safety and infection control guidelines.
Replenish consumables such as toilet paper, soap, and paper towels.
Report any maintenance issues, damage, or low stock levels to the Operations Manager.
Undertake periodic deep cleaning tasks as required.
Use cleaning equipment safely and store it appropriately after each use.
Unlock the building securely at the beginning of the shift and lock up at the end, ensuring all doors, windows, and alarms are properly secured.
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to safeguarding policies at all times.
Work independently, managing time effectively to complete tasks within the allotted schedule.
Demonstrate a respectful and professional attitude, recognising the important role your work plays in supporting staff and service users.

- Level 1 or 2 Award in Cleaning Principles recognised by City & Guilds, NCFE, or similar awarding bodies.
- COSHH Awareness Training (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) basic understanding of safe use and storage of cleaning chemicals.
- Basic Health and Safety Certificate e.g., Health & Safety in the Workplace (Level 1 or 2).
- Infection Prevention and Control Training.
- Manual Handling Training.
- GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths.
Experience
Essential
- Previous experience in a cleaning role (domestic or commercial).
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- High standards of cleanliness and attention to detail.
- Trustworthy, reliable, and punctual.
- Ability to manage time effectively within a fixed daily schedule.
- Understanding of health and safety practices relevant to cleaning.
- Ability to securely unlock and lock a building, including setting alarms.
