We are seeking an experienced Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) to join our award-winning leadership team as a Deputy Clinical Lead (DCL). In this role, you will play a pivotal part in shaping the future of our service. Working closely with the Clinical Lead (CL) and you will design, develop, and implement a state-of-the-art Speech and Language Therapy Service. Your passion, solution-focused mindset, and ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment will be vital assets. Moreover, your expertise in the latest developments in Speech Therapy and your proven ability to translate research into practical applications will be highly valued. Effective project management skills and the capacity to supervise staff are essential qualities for this positon.

Main duties of the job

  • Support the CL to develop, oversee and evaluate the clinical services provided by our team to a wide range of clinical groups and commissioning arrangements
  • Assess and diagnose a range of Speech and Language conditions and participate in and support multidisciplinary assessment and diagnosis of children/ young people with a range of Speech, Language and communication difficulties
  • Provide high-quality support and supervision to junior staff, including providing second opinions.
  • To proactively support the growth and development of Chatterbug by representing the organisation at a local/national level.
  • To actively seek Knowledge/New research and develop new initiatives to support our innovation agenda

  • Assess and diagnose children with a range of Speech, Language and Communication Needs
  • To have a specialist/advanced clinical knowledge and expertise in at least one area of SLCN for example Early Years or Speech Sound Disorders (other areas may be considered)

  • To provide specialist verbal and written advice and programmes to parents / guardians, carers and other professionals regarding the management and care of children these will be accessible to a range of audiences and easy to understand.
  • To ensure that clients / parents / teaching staff are involved in the planning and prioritisation of the treatment plans.
  • To contribute to legal documents such as Education Health and Care Plans, Individual Education Plans and Annual Reviews as appropriate and support other staff in the development of these skills
  • To maintain up to date and accurate case notes in line with RCSLT and HCPC professional standards and service policies
  • To share information with clients, carers and other professionals, observing current data protection guidelines
  • To have the appropriate communication skills to deliver sensitive information to staff and clients alike
