Job
Summary
As the Community Events
Fundraiser, you will lead on the planning and delivery of our flagship mass
participation and community-led events, including the Garden Party, Colour Run
and Midnight Walk. Your focus will be to maximise income from each event by
creating exciting, engaging, and well-executed experiences that inspire
participants to raise as much money as possible for Overgate Hospice.You will ensure that
communications leading up to and following each event actively encourage
fundraising, celebrate achievements, and strengthen long-term supporter
relationships. Stewardship will be central to your approach, ensuring
participants feel valued, supported, and motivated to continue their
involvement with the Hospice beyond the event itself. You will develop and introduce a new event to strengthen our
annual calendar and increase sustainable income at a time when the costs of
running the Hospice continue to rise.You will take
responsibility for all aspects of event delivery, ensuring every event is
professionally organised, financially successful and delivered to a high
standard. This includes full oversight of health and safety, risk management,
and liaison with relevant authorities, including the local council and
emergency services. You will ensure all events meet regulatory requirements,
including the implementation of Martyns Law and other relevant legislation,
providing a safe and secure environment for all involved.
Duties
and Responsibilities-In this role, you will plan and deliver a
portfolio of community fundraising events that generate significant income for
Overgate Hospice while providing engaging and memorable experiences for
supporters.You will lead the planning and delivery of
the Hospices flagship community events, including the Garden Party, Colour
Run and Midnight Walk, ensuring they maximise fundraising income while
providing welcoming, enjoyable, and meaningful experiences for participants and
the wider community. This will include overseeing all aspects of event planning
such as venue arrangements, route planning, logistics, safety, participant engagement,
and overall event delivery. You will also research, develop and propose a
new community fundraising event to be introduced into the Hospices annual
events calendar. You will work closely with the Communications
and Marketing team to develop and implement promotional plans that increase
event participation and income. You will collaborate with the Business
Partnerships team to develop a range of corporate sponsorship opportunities for
each event, maximising income while ensuring that sponsors receive a positive
and professional experience and that agreed sponsorship benefits are delivered
to a high standard.You will recruit, train, and manage
volunteers to support fundraising events, ensuring they feel confident,
prepared and valued in their roles and providing guidance and resources to
enable them to contribute effectively to the success of each event.You will also support the wider fundraising
team with smaller events where appropriate, providing expertise in planning, promotion,
and delivery to strengthen the overall fundraising programme.You will inspire colleagues across the
organisation to support fundraising events by promoting them
internally. You will monitor and evaluate the success of
events, gathering insight and feedback to assess performance, identify
opportunities for improvement and strengthen future fundraising outcomes and
supporter experiences.You will work closely with the Events
Fundraiser within the Philanthropy team to ensure a joined-up and consistent
approach to event planning, budgeting, health and safety and supporter
stewardship. You will work with the Community and Events
Fundraising Manager to develop and manage the annual events budget, carefully
monitoring expenditure to maximise income while remaining within agreed
financial limits. This will include negotiating with suppliers and seeking
opportunities to secure gifts in kind where possible.You will maintain accurate records relating
to event fundraising activity, ensuring processes and procedures are clearly
documented and kept up to date to support consistency and continuous
improvement.You will ensure excellent supporter
stewardship across all events within your remit, improving supporter journeys
where possible and ensuring interactions and communications are recorded
accurately within the Donorflex database in line with team processes.You will support the Community and Events
Fundraising Manager with other fundraising initiatives as required and
contribute positively as a member of the wider Income Generation team.

Income
Generation-As a member of the Fundraising team, you will
contribute to generating the income required to support the vital work of
Overgate Hospice. Team members work collaboratively to meet and exceed agreed
fundraising targets, regularly reviewing progress against both team and
individual goals.

Engagement-Providing an excellent supporter experience
is central to the work of the Fundraising team. Staff are expected to deliver
professional, courteous, and compassionate customer service that reflects the
Hospices values and ensures a positive experience for donors, supporters, and
volunteers.
Compliance
and Improvement-All fundraising activity must be carried out
in line with relevant legislation, regulatory requirements, and sector
guidance. Staff are expected to comply with frameworks set out by organisations
such as the Fundraising Regulator, Charity Commission, Hospice Income
Generation Network, Charity Retail Association and Volunteering England, as
well as ensuring that all activity aligns with the Code of Fundraising
Practice.
Flexibility
and Commitment -Fundraising roles often involve working
flexibly to support the delivery of events and community activities. Team
members may be required to work occasional evenings and weekends and attend
selected Hospice fundraising events.As part
of supporting events and activities, the role may involve manual handling tasks
such as lifting, carrying, and setting up equipment, and may require standing
for extended periods. Training and guidance on safe manual handling practices
will be provided to ensure staff safety and wellbeing.
