Job summary

Our People and Culture team is hiring! We are looking for a People and Culture Advisor to join our newly developed team to support with advising and supporting managers and staff on a variety of policies and procedures! You will work within the wider team and have the opportunity to support with various P&C projects and activities!

Main duties of the job

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is an exciting opportunity to join a newly developed People and Culture team, reporting to the People and Culture Business Partner. You will be responsible for advising and supporting managers and staff on a variety of policies and procedures. These can include; Sickness, Grievance, Disciplinary, Maternity/Paternity leave, and Performance Management!

You will work in support of both Business Partners in all Employee Relations cases, whilst also supporting within other areas of the People and Culture team activities. You will build strong internal and external rapport with stakeholders throughout the organisation, and be a trusted individual for any enquiries and concerns.

This role is based within our head office in Islington. You will be working on a hybrid contract, with at least one day in the office and potentially additional days where required. Some travel to services may be required.

We are looking for a confident, friendly, and approachable HR professional, who is able to use their initiative to work both independently and as part of a team. You will be confident in delivering advice and support in line with employment law, and internal policies and procedures, with a comprehensive understanding of key HR processes. We are a new team with loads of ideas to improve the function, so would love for someone who can join us in this journey with a creative outlook and determination to support with additional projects. We're looking for a pro active individual who can use their own initiative to resolve any queries in a timely manner. Relationship building is key for us, so ideally you love speaking to new people in the organisation and building rapport!

OVERVIEW OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Deliver a full range of People and Culture advisory and support services to the organisation and our subsidiaries.

Support staff, line managers, and the people and culture business partners on matters relating to disciplinary, grievance, and appeals.

Provide advice and guidance on policies, procedures, and employment legislation.

Manage the HR Information System (HRIS), ensuring employee amendments are updated, and accuracy of information is recorded. We currently use Cascade.

Support with the management of monthly payroll changes, working alongside the business partners and payroll manager, to identify changes to be made. Liaise with managers to input data correctly and meet deadlines.

Work alongside the people and culture administrator to ensure all administrative documentation and processes are accurate, effective and present a professional image of the organisation and the P&C function.

Support the communication and delivery of internal events to create and sustain dialogue around employee engagement and positive working culture.

Other responsibilities than those described above may be required to be undertaken from time to time and will be expected to be performed to as long as it is within the capability and level of the position.

KEY CRITERIA

What we are looking for:

Proven experience working in a similar HR role at advisory level or similar activities and responsibilities, including advising on employment relations and employment law

Working knowledge and understanding of HR procedures and basic employment law practices, and how it applies under UK employment legislation

IT Proficiency, ability to learn new software programs, advanced knowledge in Microsoft including Word, Excel, and Outlook

Ability to work with confidential and sensitive information, maintain accurate records and write accurate reports

Proven ability to juggle multiple tasks and competing priorities within a fast paced environment

What we would like, but not essential:

Proven track record in all core aspects of HR management, including performance management, absence management, disciplinary, and grievance processes

CIPD Level 5 qualification or equivalent professional experience

Working knowledge of HR databases and payroll processes, ideally with Cascade

Creativity and able to bring new ideas to the team and organisation
