Job summary
Rotherham Hospice is seeking a compassionate and skilled
Complementary Therapist to join our team.The Complementary Therapist will play a crucial role in
providing holistic and integrative therapies to patients in our inpatient unit
and at home through our Hospice at Home service.This role offers an opportunity to enhance the well-being
and qualityof life of patients and their families by delivering
supportive and comforting therapies.
Main duties of the job
Therapeutic Services
Provide complementary therapies such as massage,
aromatherapy, reflexology, reiki, and relaxation techniques to patients in the
inpatient unit and at home through the Hospice at Home service.
Tailor therapy sessions to meet the individual needs and
preferences of patients, considering their physical condition, emotional state,
and treatment goals.
Patient Assessment and Care Planning
Conduct initial assessments and consultations with
patients to determine their suitability for complementary therapies and develop
personalised care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
Monitor patient progress and adjust therapy interventions
as needed to address changes in symptoms, pain levels, and overall well-being.
Patient Education and Support
Educate patients and their families about the benefits and
potential risks of complementary therapies, providing information and guidance
to help them make informed decisions about their care.
Offer emotional support, active listening, and empathetic
presence to patients during therapy sessions, creating a safe and supportive
environment for healing and relaxation.
Collaborative Care Coordination
Collaborate closely with the interdisciplinary team,
including nurses, social worker, therapists, and chaplains, to ensure
coordinated and holistic care for patients and their families.
