Job summary
We are a patient centred charity that delivers palliative and end of life
care to thousands of people each year with advanced life-limiting illnesses who
live in Northwest Surrey. The Hospice
also provides support to their carers and families in patient homes, in care or
nursing homes, or through its In-Patient Unit at the Hospice, as well as through
the Bradbury Wellbeing Centre.
The role of the Band 3 therapy assistant is an essential component in
supporting and complementing the Hospice therapy team ensuring that the highest
standards of care are implemented and that services meet statutory regulations
and national standards.
Main duties of the job
To
support the WSBH therapy team by providing walking aids and other items of equipment
to patients who have been assessed by qualified staff Occupational Therapists
and Physiotherapists
To
carry out follow-up visits for patients who have had an initial assessment by a
senior therapist, to assist with rehab programmes and interventions as appropriate
To
work flexibly as part of the therapy team and wider hospice team across
community, inpatient and Wellbeing services offered to patients of Woking and
Sam Beare Hospice
To
undertake effective communication with patients and their relatives as well as
the wider multi-disciplinary team
To
assist the therapy team with day-to-day administrative duties including data
collection, onward referrals and equipment order as well as maintenance processes

- To be able to adapt and use skills from previous work experience

- Appropriate knowledge gained in other roles such as counselling, anatomy/physiology, team working
