Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Senior Staff Nurses to join our friendly, dynamic and forward-thinking Inpatient Unit team at Woking and Sam Beare Hospices

The role will support the Inpatient Unit Manager in supervising and co-ordinating the running of the Unit, team leadership, and ensuring optimum care standards for patients and their families.

Main duties of the job

You will be expected to work as a key member of the multi-disciplinary team and to utilise your advanced nursing skills and knowledge to care for our patients with life limiting conditions. You will also contribute to the day-to-day management of the Unit in conjunction with the Inpatient Unit Manager.

Operating from a bespoke building in Goldsworth Park in Woking, the Charity provides inpatient and community services across North West Surrey. Job description

Job responsibilities

  • Supervise and co-ordinate the running of the Unit in consultation with the Inpatient Unit Manager.
  • Regularly take charge of the Unit, utilising resources effectively and to ensure that staff staffing levels are maintained.
  • Deputise for the Inpatient Unit Manger as required.
  • Deliver high standards of care directly and assist in the management of junior staff on a day-to-day basis.
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care from the point of admission through to discharge or death.
  • Provide specialist knowledge and skills in caring for patients with life limiting illness and to disseminate such knowledge to the healthcare team.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with all members of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure collaborative working for the benefit of patient care.
  • Support the development and implementation of care pathways and of patient information.
  • Maintain accurate and up to date patient records (including electronic records).
