Job summary

Care for Veterans has a new exciting opportunity to work with Veterans, and other nursing care residents. You will support the Registered Nurses and HCA Supervisors to provide compassionate high quality care and to further enhance the lives of our residents.

Main duties of the job

Key responsibilities will include:- Provide direct patient care, including administering medications, performing treatments, and monitoring vital signs- Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and implement patient care plans- Assess and document patient symptoms, progress, and response to treatment- Educate patients and their families on health conditions, medications, and self-care techniques- Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and maintain a safe and clean patient environment- Assist with diagnostic tests and procedures as needed- Adhere to professional standards, ethical guidelines, and legal regulations

Skills:- Strong knowledge of human anatomy and physiology- Proficient in providing patient care, including administering medications and performing treatments- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members- Ability to assess patient needs, develop care plans, and evaluate patient outcomes- Attention to detail for accurate documentation of patient information- Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare setting- Compassion and empathy for patients' physical and emotional well-being

About us

The organisation has two wings arranged over two floors with a maximum of 60 beds. The care teams work a shift pattern of earlies and lates (07:00 - 14:00 and 13:15 - 20:15). Enhancements are paid for weekends and Bank Holidays.

Our residents range from early twenties to just over 100 and a large proportion are non ambulent and are qwheelchair users

JOB DEFINITION AND COMPETENCIES

Act as the Named Associate Nurse for an identified caseload of residents taking responsibility for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of their care.

Ensure that each resident has an accurate care plan and that a regular review report is completed.

Participate in the production of MDT reports.

Work in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team to ensure that agreed treatment programmes are implemented.

Facilitate social and recreational activities for residents if appropriate.

  • Contribute to the development of evidence-based practice within the wing environment.
  • Assist the nurse on duty in taking charge of the wing on a shift basis, as delegated by your line manager.
  • Support the introduction of new initiatives within the ward setting
