Job summary
As we prepare to reopen our Shrewsbury ward following a £3 million makeover there is a range of inpatient and community roles available.
We are keen to attract both newly qualified individuals at the beginning of their careersand experienced clinicians.
Working at Severn Hospice you are given the time to care and were looking for compassionate and committed Healthcare Assistants to join our Inpatient or Community Nursing Team.
With your friendly, empathetic and professional approach, you will work in a highly rewarding area of care, supporting patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Nurse Practitioner maintaining a consistently high standard of person-centred palliative care.
As a valued member of our skilled and caring clinical team, you will play a vital role in meeting patients holistic needs, ensuring comfort, safety and dignity, while also offering ongoing support to families and carers.
If the community team is more your area, as a valued member of our skilled and caring team, you will contribute to a range of services including home-based care, coffee mornings and supporting outpatient clinics.
Main duties of the job
Inpatient Units:
To assist in the care of patients with a life limiting illness under the direction of a Registered Nurse and to maintain a high standard of care. To support the patients and relatives through ongoing communication
To generate and maintain a friendly team spirit with all the staff and volunteers of the Hospice.
To provide a safe environment for patients, visitors, staff and volunteers.
To support new HCAs into their duties
If requested, to provide assistance on Hospice transport, ensuring safe transfer of patients to and from the Day Services.
To help embed the practices and culture of rehabilitative palliative care to effectively support people with long term life-limiting conditions to live well.
Community Based:
Our primary goal is to establish a tiered hospice community care model that can respond promptly to support our patients with their evolving, complex needs, enabling them to remain safely at home if that is their choice.
Healthcare Assistants will support the Service through H@H day care, coffee mornings, and supporting outpatient clinics, to ensure that high standards of care are delivered and effective liaison and communication with key professionals involved in the patients care are maintained.
Individuals will need to demonstrate the ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. They will need to be flexible in their approach to the variety of tasks they will undertake.
