You will be required to report changes in patient progress effectively, both verbally and in written form and ensure that accurate, legible and holistic nursing records according to NMC guidelines and unit guidance are maintained.
You will need to interpret and present clinical information to patients and their relatives to ensure that they have sufficient relevant information during the patients stay.
During your career here at Severn Hospice, you would be required to not only continue with your own professional development but also mentor less experienced nurses.

Main duties of the job
You must be able to deliver direct patient
care whilst co-ordinating and overseeing nursing practice.
You must be able to think on your feet whilst
assessing patient needs and know how to provide a safe environment for
patients.
An ability to work flexibly across the
organisation is imperative and you must be able to embed the practices and
culture of rehabilitative palliative care to effectively support people with
long term life-limiting conditions to live well.
You must be highly organised and motivated
and able to work individually and as part of a team. You must be confident in
working with outside agencies and community services.
It is very important that you can demonstrate
sensitivity in dealing with complex and confidential information from patients,
families and colleagues, giving advice and support when necessary and be able
to respond appropriately to the information given.
About us
Severn Hospice gives specialist care and
support free of charge to families across Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and
Mid Wales who are living with an incurable illness.
We support families through the good days and
bad days because we believe that when cure is no longer possible, care is.
Since 1989, we have given free care and support to more than 34,000 people and
their loved ones during their time of greatest need. We now help more than
2,000 local people every year.
Our hospice is part of health services
offered to people living in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and Mid Wales but
we are not part of the NHS. We are a completely independent charity, having to
raise around two-thirds of our running costs.
We have two hospices one in Shrewsbury and
the other in Telford. We have in-patient facilities and also offer Hospice at
Home service as well as Outreach services.
