A fantastic opportunity has arisen at Bury Hospice for a Health Care Assistant to join our supportive and professional team within the Inpatient Unit. This role will be both an inspiring and worthwhile opportunity to develop your Health Care Assistant skills and knowledge within a Specialist Palliative Care setting.

Main duties of the job
KKEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- To assist in the delivery of the planned, individualised holistic care of patients and support of their families/carers.
- To ensure that the physical, emotional, spiritual and social needs remain paramount at all times
- To establish and maintain communication with people on routine/ operational matters.
- To maintain health, safety and security of self and others within the hospice environment.
- To develop own skills and knowledge (theoretical, practical, procedural).
- To support the maintenance and development of services.
- To record data accurately using the agreed systems.
- To assist in providing a welcoming. Friendly and professional environment where relatives may participate appropriately as partners within the caring team.
- To assist in the maintenance of harmonious working relationships within the ward team

Contribute to the control of risk and report immediately, using the Hospice Incident reporting system, any incident, accident or near miss involving patients, service users, carers, staff, contractors or members of the public.

To work within legislation and Bury Hospice procedures on risk management.
All Hospice sites have been designated a no smoking area. Therefore smoking is not permitted within Hospice premises, or whilst representing the Hospice in the course of their duty. VOLUNTEERS
The Hospice has the advantage of being supported by a number of volunteers.
If a volunteer is assigned to assist you at any time, you will still retain responsibility for the requirements of this job in terms of accuracy, efficiency and standards of completion.
You will also ensure good communication and be mindful of your responsibility towards that volunteer in terms of Health and Safety.
