Job summary

Bury Hospice are seeking a passionate and experienced Kitchen Cook to join our wonderful Catering team.You will be responsible for preparing and cooking delicious meals for our patients and visitors, maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment, and contributing to our evolving and exciting menu development.

Working collaboratively within a 4-person catering team with assistance from dedicated volunteers, this part-time (25hrs per week) role is permanent, working 2.5 days. There is a requirement for some weekend working, on a fair and equitable rota basis, with a planned and structured work schedule.

Main duties of the job

The Team Member will liaise directly with the Catering Manager to ensure the efficient running of the service for the Hospice.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • Deliver an excellent level of catering for hospice patients, visitors and staff maintaining professionalism at all times.
  • Prepare and serve food and beverages to patients (in accordance with their nutritional assessment), staff and visitors at the Hospice from a planned menu and as directed by the
  • catering manager.
  • To ensure all catering equipment is cleaned, well maintained and serviced in accordance with Hospice policy.
  • To ensure the catering service has adequate stocks, reporting to the Catering Manager as required.
  • To ensure the catering service has adequate supplies of cleaning materials, reporting to the Catering Manager as required.
  • Liaise with nursing/medical staff when appropriate or when requested with regard to the patient's requirements.
  • To adhere to Health & Safety and Food Safety Regulations. Undertake safe practice and methods of working to ensure that cleanliness is maintained at all times
  • Report identified maintenance tasks to the Catering Manager.
  • Attend and complete on-the-job catering training
  • Attend and complete online and face to face mandatory training
  • Supervision of volunteers where required
