Job summary

The GP Governance Lead will oversee robust governance arrangements within the organisation to deliver high quality, safe and effective GP cover across local Urgent Care Services. For the right candidate, there is an opportunity for this position to be combined with the 'GP Clinical Director for Urgent Care' role also out to advert. In this scenario, clinical sessions would be adjusted to account for an additional 2 management sessions per week.

Main duties of the job

The GP Governance Lead role aims to:

  • Provide clinical governance oversight across working practices and systems including recruitment, audit and communications.
  • Ensure patient safety and quality care, through maintaining compliance, managing risk and implementing learning.
  • Promote an open and fair culture for GPs to ensure that incident reporting is encouraged, and lessons are learnt, focusing on corrective solutions.
  • Support development of the service and GP role within urgent care.

Newcastle GP Services (NGPS) is an ambitious and innovative membership organisation, providing support to 27 GP Practices across Newcastle. A small, friendly and professional team based in Gosforth, we deliver a range of services, including GP cover across Urgent Treatment Centres, mobile outreach clinics, managing a primary care staff bank, as well as providing financial and administrative assistance to Primary Care Networks (PCNs) in the city. Our mission is to ensure that voice of Newcastle Primary Care is heard, and that we work on behalf of our members to deliver services at the right scale.

Job description
