Job summary
This role is an exciting opportunity for
a GP with an interest in women's health to work in an outpatient intermediate
women's health clinic (pilot initially) alongside a consultant
gynaecologist from The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (NuTH). The post holder will work as an integral member of the Women's
Health Hub team and will be expected to manage care and treatment for patients
referred into the service. The Women's Health GP will be responsible for the
delivery of safe, effective and high-quality care, working to best practice
guidelines and within their sphere of competence. During the initial phase of
this service, the post holder will have an integral role in service development,
and will be expected to support with service improvements, developing standard operating
procedures, data collection and evaluation and learning.
It
is expected that the post holder will work clinically within the Women's Health
Hub for one to two sessions per week, which will initially fall on a Thursday,
but may be subject to change as the service develops.
The
service location is TBC, and will be from a community-based clinical site in Newcastle.
The
post holder will be required to hold an honorary contract with The Newcastle
upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for the duration of their contract and
complete all pre-employment checks.
Main duties of the job
The
Women's Health GP will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) to
deliver intermediate-complex care in a community-based Women's Health service,
focused on improving access to timely, accessible diagnosis and treatment for
Newcastle patients. This is an innovative service; piloting the transfer of
care from hospital to community in line with the NHS 10-year plan, with an aim
to tackle the barriers and achieve ambitions outlined in Women's Health
Strategy for England (2022), and the regional NENC Women's Health Needs
Assessment. This post is 12-months initially, and there may be opportunity for
the role to be extended subject to funding.
The
post holder will be required to hold an honorary contract with The Newcastle
upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for the duration of their contract,
and complete all pre-employment checks.
