Newcastle General Practice Services Ltd

Outreach Immunisation Nurse

The closing date is 18 July 2025

Job summary

This winter, Monty the Community Bus will play a vital role in keeping Newcastle safe and healthy by delivering COVID and Flu vaccinations to those who need them most. As a trusted and familiar presence in the city, Monty supports Newcastle's General Practices and helps reduce the burden on the NHS by bringing vaccination services directly into the heart of the community. By reaching people where they are, Monty plays a key part in preventing illness and easing winter pressures on already stretched health services. We are looking for a compassionate and reliable nurse who is not only committed to patient care but also enthusiastic about supervising and supporting future healthcare professionals by delivering these vaccines. If you're passionate about supporting your community and helping to shape the next generation of healthcare professionals we would love to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

This role is an exciting opportunity to work as part of the Newcastle GP Services (NGPS) Outreach team. NGPS are working in collaboration with Newcastle University to support the supervision of students, and deliver Covid 19 and Flu Vaccinations this winter. This new service will run 3 days a week for an initial 2 months (6th October - end of November). Outreach clinics will be delivered from a combination of community based sites, including an outreach vehicle.

We are looking for an experienced Nurse with a background in General Practice, who is passionate about Primary Care and reducing health inequalities. This role will involve direct supervision and training of students, and delivery of clinical interventions in an outreach setting.

The Outreach Immunisations Nurse role is offered on a zero-hour contract basis and includes an opportunity to be a part of our flexible workforce hub, Flexipool. Shifts will be allocated inline with staff availability as well as clinic setting. The appointed candidate should have good flexibility across Monday - Thursday between 6th October - end of November. The job location will be varied across community locations in Newcastle, and you may be required to travel between sites. For further details, please see the job description, and if you have any questions about the role, please do not hesitate to contact our Workforce Manager stephanie.passmoor@nhs.net.
