Job Title: General Practice Receptionist
Responsible to: Practice Manager & GP Partners
Hours: Part Time - 20 hours per week (between the hours of 08:00 - 18:30)
Location: Little Lever Health Centre
Salary: Depending on experience
Main duties of the job
To provide an efficient, friendly and professional reception and administrative service to patients, clinicians, and other members of the practice team. the role is essential in ensuring the smooth running of the practice, maintaining patient confidentiality, an delivering a high standard of customer care.

Reception Duties

Provide a warm and courteous welcome to patients and visitors, in person and over the telephone.

Deal with patient enquiries, making appointments, and processing repeat prescription requests in line with practice protocols.

Manage the appointment system efficiently to maximise the use of clinicians time.

Register new patients, ensuring that all required documentation and identification are completed accurately.

Receive, record, and distribute incoming mail, emails, and faxes appropriately.

Maintain confidentiality and adhere to the practices data protection and safeguarding policies at all times.
Administrative Support

Update and maintain accurate patient records using the clinical system (e.g. EMIS).

Support the clinical team by preparing notes, filing results, and ensuring that relevant information is available for consultations.

Process referrals, test results, and other administrative tasks as required.

Assist with recall systems for chronic disease management and routine health checks.

Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and audits as required.

- Previous experience working in a GP surgery, healthcare setting, or NHS environment
- Experience using EMIS, or similar clinical software
