Hospice at Home West Cumbria are have a vacancy within our Support at Home Service to complement the existing Team and Home Nursing Service. We are looking for a Healthcare Assistant who can think on their feet and respond to changing situations.
The role of the Healthcare Assistant is to work with patients, families and carers in a home environment, providing care and support in a way which maintains and respects the privacy, dignity, safety and lifestyle of the patient receiving care.
You will be part of a motivated team who cover 7 days per week, 365 days per year. The Support at Home service operates between the hours of 8.00 am and 8.30 pm.
Main duties of the job
- Provide care and support within palliative and end of life care
- Carry out continued assessments of the patient
- Support with oral medication administration
- Provide care and support which maintains privacy, dignity, respect and safety
- Provide family and carers with emotional support
- Assist with "last offices" as and when needed
- Produce documentation and accurate records of care
- Attend and participate in supervisions / de-briefings
About us
Hospice at Home West Cumbria provides an expert and comprehensive service to enhance the experience of patients requiring palliative and end of life care. The services provide quality care in the delivery of home nursing, family and bereavement support, and Lymphedema care, for patients, their families and carers across West Cumbria.
The role of the HCA is to work on a one-to-one basis with patients, families and carers in a home environment, largely without supervision. The role provides practical care (including personal care, food, nutrition and hydration support, catheter care, pressure care, simple dressings, and other activities of daily living), emotional, social and psychological support to individuals with palliative care needs, their families and carers.
