An exciting opportunity has arisen
to work within Moorlands Rural PCN. You
will work as part of multidisciplinary team to support our local
population.
This is a new and exciting role for you to develop and strive to support the needs of the PCN going forward.
You will assess and examine patients, manager a specific caseload of patients, present them, initiate, and interpret investigations and recommend treatment, whilst exercising a high level of professional judgement and expertise when delivering care. Interview patients, take medical histories, perform physical examinations, analyse, diagnose, and explain medical problems during surgery consultations and home visits. Recommend and explain appropriate diagnostic tests and treatment. Formulate differential diagnoses and develop and deliver appropriate treatment and management plans. Request and interpret results of laboratory investigations when necessary. Instruct and educate patients in preventative health care. Perform both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures following appropriate training and experience as required. Conduct telephone consultations which may involve discussing the result and implications of laboratory investigations with patients along withroutine and emergency complaints.

Main duties of the job
We are looking
for someone who is hardworking, organised with great interpersonal skills who

- You will hold a post graduate diploma or MSc in Physician Associate
Studies.
- You will hold a science-related degree prior to graduating from an
established UK Physician Associate Training programme, which follows the
Department of Healths Competence Curriculum Framework.
- You will have successfully passed the UK National Physician Associate
Examination or alternatively sitting the UK National Physician Associate
Examination in January 2021 prior to commencement.
- You must be a Member of the Faculty of Physician Associates at the RCP,
which includes registration on the Managed Voluntary Register (MVR) for
Physician Associates or have applied for registration prior to commencing the
programme.
- You will need to demonstrate working in an NHS environment.
- You will be creative, flexible, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment with a high level of commitment.

About us
Moorlands Rural PCN are a group of practices working together to focus on local patient care. We are a small multi-disciplinary team, covering 7 practices across, Cheadle, Tean, Alton, Waterhouses & Werrington areas, serving a population of 37,500.
We have strong
leadership, led by our two PCN Clinical Directors and a supportive management
team.
We are looking to expand our team which currently
includes, Clinical Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians and Social Prescribers,
Health & Wellbeing Coach, Care Coordinators, Physician Associates, Mental
Health Practitioner, STR worker, Nurse Associate, Advanced Clinical Practitioners,
First contact Physiotherapist and Digital & Transformation Lead.

The post holder will work collaboratively in Moorlands
Rural PCN within the policies and procedures of the organisation, and will have
the following duties and responsibilities under the broad headings below:
Clinical:
- Attend induction
arranged by the GP Practice.
- A designated
clinician will supervise the PA at the GP Practice.
- Participate in all
treatment and preventative healthcare services in the Practice as delegated and
agreed by the supervising GP(s).
- Provide direct
clinical care to patients using established clinical guidelines for both
routine and urgent complaints.
- Consult and refer
patients to specialists and other health professionals as appropriate.

in line with FPARCP guidance. A minimum of 25 hours must be in accredited
direct learning programmes.
- Take the UK PA
National Re-certification Examination every six years, as required for
Physician Associates to maintain registration on the Managed Voluntary Register (MVR).
- Perform a variety
of research and analysis tasks associated with improvement of clinical care,
medical diagnosis, and treatment where appropriate using the following means:
- Audit of clinical
practice.
- Review of relevant
literature.
- Research unusual
symptoms and treatment options through consultation with General Practitioners,
Physicians, and other specialists.
- Attend regular
multi-disciplinary meetings organised by the Practice, to discuss and

within the Practice.

educational meetings organised by the practice to update clinical
knowledge, practice policy and guidelines and disseminate other useful
information relevant to the provision of adequate healthcare for patients.
- Regularly reflect
on own practice (and keep a record of learning encounters) to identify
learning needs and encourage self-directed lifelong learning and continued
professional development.
