Job summary

An exciting opportunity is available to provide inspirational, motivating and empowering operational leadership as a key member of the Creative and Support Therapy team. You will take a lead in the assessment and review of those patients referred to the service, enabling quality of life of through interventions tailored to individual need This will involve the development and delivery of bespoke wellbeing programmes for individuals and groups and as part of the wider hospice team, you will contribute to the delivery of the hospice strategy and values.

Main duties of the job

As well as having excellent people skills and experience in assessment and the delivery of therapeutic programmes you will be a passionate and enthusiastic leader who can adapt to change and engage with staff proactively to further develop our services. A good sense of humour and non judgemental, empathetic approach is crucial for our vulnerable client group. Meeting the needs of the whole person including their physical, psychological spiritual and emotional needs is our baseline for intervention - Could this be you?

About us

East Lancashire Hospice is a registered charity, founded in 1984. We support and care for patients with a life limiting illness, their families and others close to them. We provide this in a number of ways; at the hospice and in peoples own homes across our community of Blackburn, Darwen, Hyndburn and the Ribble Valley.

With approximately 120 employees and over 250 volunteers, our people are our biggest asset whom we value tremendously. Job responsibilities

Work proactively as a member of the integrated Support and Wellbeing Team and wider hospice community.

Provide day to day operational leadership and role-modelling that inspires, motivates and empowers the team.

Take a lead in the assessment of those referred to the service to achieve individualised, high-quality programmes and individual and group sessions liaising with others involved in the persons care as necessary.

Maintain a robust system for the review of patient needs including expectations, preferences, uptake of the service and appropriate signposting in support of the patients autonomy and independence.

Co-ordinate and supervise the planning and delivery of therapeutic programmes that are creative, engaging, provide variety and are responsive to changing need, delegating appropriately to therapy assistants/volunteers.

Take responsibility for ensuring the competence and confidence of team members including the provision of any necessary personal care [for example toileting/moving and handling] included as part of the intervention and support plan for those accessing the service.

In conjunction with the HoSWT, review, develop and maintain robust systems and processes for the effective delivery of the service.

Work with the HoSWT in the recruitment of providers to enhance the diversity of the programmes offered.

Coordinate the day to day running of the hospice volunteer driving service.

Collaborate with HoSWT and colleagues when necessary to support the delivery of the bathing service.

Promote awareness and understanding of the service, actively engaging with internal departments and other services/agencies to facilitate referral, timely access and appropriate signposting to local community provision.

Contribute to audit and actions arising as a result of feedback from patients, their families and others involved in service provision identifying good practice and areas for improvement.

Responsible for the completion of activity information to meet local and national data set requirements and organisational reporting.
