Job summary

We are looking for an experienced Operations Director to lead the day-to-day delivery and growth of a Private Patient Unit (PPU), working closely within a joint venture partnership with a large NHS Foundation Trust on the South Coast .

You'll take overall responsibility for operational performance, commercial growth, team leadership, governance and patient experience. You will ensure that the PPU delivers safe, efficient, high-quality services while meeting ambitious activity and revenue targets.

Main duties of the job

  • Act as the main interface between the NHS Trust and Regent's Park Healthcare senior management teams to develop a PPU.
  • You will be responsible for the project management and development of the PPU.
  • Provide key reporting to all stakeholders on PPU operational metrics, including identifying any key growth opportunities.

  • Own and deliver the commercial and business development strategy (self-pay and insured)
  • Build and lead high-performing operational and admin teams
  • Manage budgets, pricing, revenue capture and resource planning
  • Drive stakeholder engagement (consultants, referrers, corporates, insurers and internal teams)
  • Report into the JV Management Board and contribute to governance and performance reporting
  • Ensure compliance across CQC-aligned governance, H&S, GDPR/IG, and risk management
  • Lead capital projects, business continuity and ESG/sustainability initiatives

  • Strong commercial / business development capability and confident in analyzing and using performance and marketing data.
  • Financial acumen (managing budgets, cost control and resource planning and operational management).
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, combined with ability to present clinical performance data to senior management.
  • Experience in a fast paced environment with evolving processes
  • Strong project management and team leadership experience across multiple disciplines.

Desirable

  • Experience working with partnerships between NHS Trusts and private healthcare providers.
  • Experience of working within a PPU.
  • Operational experience within a private hospital.
