An exciting opportunity has arisen for highly motivated, enthusiastic and organised Cancer Information &
Support Assistant to join our team.
Part Time 30 hours per week (4 x 7.5hr days, Mon - Thurs)
Band 4 £26,530 - £29,411 per annum depending on experience (£21,224 £23,528 pro rata)
Pay Award pending
Main duties of the job
Working with the Macmillan Cancer Information & Support team
and our volunteers across the three centres in Bolton, you'll help to support
the smooth delivery of this important service for people affected by
cancer. You will meet with users of the
service, assessing their needs, identifying the support required and providing
the individuals with access to information and intervention. The role will communicate sensitively and
compassionately with patients, their families and carers and provide them with
practical and emotional support.
We are looking for a highly organised individual with demonstratable
I.T. and social media skills. The candidate should work well as part of a team,
but also able to use their own initiative and work autonomously as
required. You will need to have excellent
communication and interpersonal skills and ideally have experience of dealing
with distressed or anxious patients. The successful candidate will have preferably
have experience of working within a healthcare setting in the last 2 years knowledge
of cancer treatments and cancer pathways would be an advantage.
