Job summary

To supplement our permanent Housekeeping team, our team of bank staff provide cover for planned and unplanned shortfalls in staffing, covering vacancies and staff absences. We are now seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and proactive bank Housekeeper to provide operational cover within the hospice, as and when required, as part of our Facilities team.

Main duties of the job

Working across all areas within the hospice, the role will support the effective running of our Housekeeping team during periods of staff leave, absences and during busy periods. The post holder performs all cleaning and domestic duties in the hospice as required, ensuring a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness throughout. This will include specialised cleaning in appropriate areas, such as treatment rooms and pharmacy, and maintenance of cleaning equipment.

We are looking for an experienced housekeeper with high personal standards and a commitment to the vision and values of Bolton Hospice. You must be able to work well in a team and have good interpersonal and communication skills, along with a non-judgmental and empathetic approach. Experience of working in a clinical environment would be desirable but not essential as training will be provided. Ideally applicants would have availability between the hours of 6.00am and 12 noon, Monday to Friday

Our team of doctors, nurses and other professional staff provide expert care and support for local people with terminal or life-limiting illnesses and their families, in the hospice and at home. We not only take care of patients' physical needs, we consider their emotional, spiritual and social needs too; and we support families and close friends, both during illness and in bereavement.

We strive to provide the very best hospice care and will continue to work together with our community to ensure our services meet the demand for specialist palliative and end of life care in Bolton.
