Job summary

As a Staff Nurse, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, holistic, person-centred care to patients both within the hospice and potentially across our community settings. Main duties of the job

Salary:                                £29,402 – £44,109 dependent on experience

Saint Catherine’s is an established and highly regarded provider of specialist palliative and end-of-life care based in Scarborough, North Yorkshire. We are currently entering an exciting period of development, innovation, with the introduction of our new Respite Care service – designed to support individuals with progressive life-limiting illnesses and to provide much-needed relief for carers. As part of this expansion, we are seeking experienced and enthusiastic Staff Nurses to join our team and help shape the future of our clinical services.

About the Role

We are recruiting to Band 5 and Band 6 equivalent positions, offering opportunities for nurses at various stages of their career.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing safe, compassionate, and effective nursing care to patients with complex palliative care needs
  • Supporting the delivery and development of our new respite care offering
  • Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure continuity and coordination of care
  • Contributing to clinical decision-making and care planning
  • Participating in quality improvement, audit, and professional development activities

What We’re Looking For

We welcome applications from nurses who are:

  • Registered with the NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council)
  • Passionate about palliative and end-of-life care
  • Experienced in caring for patients with frailty, long-term conditions, or complex health needs
  • Excellent communicators, able to offer empathy, reassurance, and professional guidance
  • Motivated, proactive, and committed to ongoing learning and development
  • Open to innovation and interested in helping shape new models of care
  • Previous experience in a hospice, community, frailty, or palliative care setting is desirable but not essential. Full support and training will be provided.
