Job summary

The post holder will be responsible for delivering holistic, person-centered support to individuals receiving palliative care under the care of Saint Catherine’s. Working within the multidisciplinary team, they will provide personal care, emotional support, and therapeutic activities that enhance well-being and quality of life.

This role will involve working autonomously and as part of a team, engaging patients in wellbeing services, facilitating targeted therapeutic interventions, and managing the bathing service to promote relaxation and dignity in care.

Our Wellness program will offer a comprehensive range of activities and therapies designed to support physical, emotional, and psychological well-being for patients, carers, and families. As part of this expansion, we are looking for a caring and enthusiastic Wellbeing Facilitator to join our dedicated team and play a key role in delivering personal care, emotional support, and therapeutic activities for individuals receiving palliative care.

The Role

As a Wellbeing Practitioner, you will:

  • Provide personal care and emotional support, ensuring dignity and comfort.  
  • Engage individuals in therapeutic and creative activities that promote well-being, relaxation, and social interaction.  
  • Work closely with the palliative care and therapy teams to support targeted therapeutic interventions.  
  • Facilitate the bathing service, ensuring a safe, relaxing, and dignified experience for patients.  
  • Monitor patients’ well-being and provide updates to the multidisciplinary care team. Offer guidance and reassurance to families and carers during what can be a challenging time.

About You

  • We are looking for someone who is:  
  • Compassionate, empathetic, and patient-focused, with a passion for supporting individuals in palliative care.  
  • Experienced in personal care, emotional support, or therapeutic activities (palliative care experience desirable but not essential).  
  • A strong communicator who can work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and provide support to patients and their families.  
  • Able to create a positive and engaging environment that promotes dignity, relaxation, and well-being.

Requirements

Essential:

  • NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care or equivalent.  
  • Experience in healthcare, palliative care, or a similar supportive role.  
  • Ability to engage individuals in creative and therapeutic activities.  
  • Strong understanding of dignity, respect, and confidentiality in care settings.

Desirable:

  • Experience working with patients with life-limiting illnesses or end-of-life care.  
  • Training in dementia awareness, safeguarding, or first aid.  
  • Knowledge of relaxation techniques or sensory activities.
