Job summary

As a Counsellor you will work as a key member of the specialist team providing a high standard of counselling, including:

Tailored counselling approaches to meet the unique emotional and psychological needs of our clients.

Uphold the highest standards of professional ethics and confidentiality.

Work as part of a team ensuring a holistic approach to patient wellbeing.

Main duties of the job

To carry a client caseload that balances appropriate self-care with responding to the needs of Saint Catherine’s clients in a timely and professional manner.

To receive regular counselling supervision of 1.5 hours per month with a Saint Catherine’s approved and funded supervisor. The use of video conferencing may be used to broaden the field of candidates for supervision.

To create client sessional notation suitable for entry into a digital management system, in line with the purpose and standards maintained within the Specialist Palliative Care Counselling Service.

To provide ‘Time to talk’ sessions for staff when required.

About You

You will:

  • Be a Qualified Counsellor
  • Have an accredited membership, or working towards, of BACP, UKCP or BPS or equivalent.
  • Be a compassionate and empathic individual with a genuine commitment to improving the quality of care of your clients.
  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with colleagues, patients and their loved ones.
  • Have the ability to adapt counselling techniques to suit the unique needs of each individual.

  • Bachelor's degree or post-graduate qualification in counselling or psychotherapy; or a Bachelor degree in Social Work or Psychology with post graduate training in counselling or psychotherapy; or training in Clinical Psychology
