Our services:
Our support services are wide-ranging and bespoke to each family and include end-of-life care, symptom management, post-death care, short breaks, counselling, sibling support groups, music therapy, counselling, and more. We work with staffing ratios that allow us to deliver high-quality, holistic care tailored for each child and family.
We support families across a large geographical area, including South Yorkshire, North Nottinghamshire, North Derbyshire and parts of North Lincolnshire. The hospice is easily accessible from Barnsley, Rotherham, Doncaster, Sheffield and North Notts. We have free secure on-site parking for families, staff and volunteers to use.
Main duties of the job
Role Overview
As a Care Team Support Worker, you will work collaboratively as part of a team to support the delivery high-quality nursing care to babies, children, and young people in the hospice, under the direction of the Nursing Team.
Key Responsibilities:
Supporting the delivery of planned and some responsive direct clinical care.
Working collaboratively with other members of the care team under the direction of the Nurse in Charge.
Building compassionate and professional working relationships with families using our services
Key Attributes:
We are looking for a warm, resilient, and empathetic support worker to provide sensitive, high-quality care, working closely with families and professionals. Strong communication, emotional strength, and a commitment to dignity and play are essential.
Qualifications and Experience:
Previous experience of working in a care environment is essential.
A recognised qualification in Maths and English is preferred.

family that needs our help and to offer them the very best choice of care.
Did you know that every year we need to raise 6.7m to keep
our doors open and only around 17 percent of our income comes from government

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Act as a compassionate advocate for children, young people, and their families, maintaining clear professional boundaries.
- Collaborate with parents/carers to implement tailored care plans that meet individual needs.
- Provide sensitive emotional and psychological support to families navigating illness, disability, end-of-life care, and bereavement.
- Deliver high-quality care in line with nursing plans, policies, and procedures.
- Administer complex clinical interventions (e.g., tracheostomy care, ventilator support, gastrostomy/jejunostomy feeding, suctioning) following appropriate training.
- Support palliative and end-of-life care both within the hospice and in home settings.
- Facilitate enriching experiences and memory-making during short breaks and day stays.
- Maintain professional competence through ongoing training and development.
- Keep accurate, timely records and escalate concerns or incidents appropriately.
- Provide nursing support under the supervision of the nursing team.
- Ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment through daily housekeeping duties.
- Communicate effectively with the care team, reporting any relevant observations or concerns.
- Uphold confidentiality and data protection standards at all times.
