Due to retirement, we are currently looking for an experienced Occupational
Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team.
Position Overview
As an Occupational Therapist in our hospice, you will play a key role in
supporting patients at the end of life by enhancing their functional abilities
and promoting their comfort, dignity, and independence. You will work closely
with patients, families, and the clinical team to provide personalised therapy
that aligns with each patients goals and wishes. Your expertise will
contribute to creating an environment of peace and comfort during this
significant stage of life.
Main duties of the job
Duties
will include:
Ensure evidence based
practice and practice development across the patient pathway, within the
Oakhaven therapy service and the Oakhaven multi-disciplinary team (MDT).
Provide specialised
Occupational Therapy assessment and treatment for patients with complex
needs and provide expert advice, guidance and information to health and
social care professionals, carers and relatives and other
non-professionals.
Take a lead role in
the advanced assessment and treatment of patients. Provide support and advice to patients
and their carers and professionals.
Make appropriate referrals to the MDT, ensuring seamless service
for patients.
To develop the
occupational therapy service and therapy presence within Oakhaven Hospice
and provide line management for the Therapy Assistant
Provide specialist
advice and education on all aspects of occupational therapy management and
rehabilitation for patients, relatives and health care professional.

- Significant experience of multi-disciplinary/multi-agency working
- Experience working across a broad range of specialities
- Experience of working in an oncology or palliative care setting
- Proven experience of working effectively in a team
- Experience of managing/leading staff and/or volunteers
- Experience of teaching and facilitating others
Qualifications
Essential
- The successful applicant will have a BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy or equivalent qualification and be registered with the Health Professions Council.

- Excellent interpersonal skills with particular ability to liaise effectively with patients, the multi-disciplinary team and across organisations with individuals at a range of levels
- Excellent verbal, written and personal communications skills, confident and articulate
