Job summary
This is an
exciting opportunity for an experienced health care assistant who is a
confident phlebotomist to join our Primary Care Network (PCN). You will support
our local GP Practices working from the GP Practice sites as well as from our
PCN Health Hub based in Camberley Health Centre.
This is a Fixed Term Contract for
Saturday work between 09:00 and 13:00, and weekday evenings until 20:00, with
the expectation to arrive in advance to meet the team and setup your clinic
room and to handover or close down your clinic room at the end of your duty.
Main duties of the job
- To support the PCN and local Practices in the delivery of nursing services, working as part of the practice multidisciplinary team, delivering care within their scope of practice to the entitled patient population.
- The Healthcare Assistant will deliver and assist clinical staff in the provision of treatment, preventative care, health promotion and patient education.

Job responsibilities
- Undertake Phlebotomy and associated process administration, including ensuring specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation and patient records are updated.
- Undertake health checks (NHS health checks and health checks for long term conditions)
- Support the PCN / Practice team with health promotion programmes
- Carry out baseline observations such as pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, recording findings accurately
- Accurate measurement and recording of height, weight and waist measurement
- Carry out ECGs as requested
- To record patient interventions on relevant electronic database systems (e.g. EMIS)
- Ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session
- Ensure clinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced in accordance with IPC policy
- Provide wound care (working with scope of education, training and competence)
- Perform other clinical duties as required, within the scope of the HCAs competencies and training
- Provide and communicate relevant health promotion literature to patients

- Six months of relevant experience working in a primary care environment in the last two years.
- Care certificate.
Desirable
- Relevant NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent.
