Medical Receptionist

Job summary

Park House Surgery is a busy practice situated in Bagshot, looking to employ receptionists with excellent communication and phone skills. As the first point of contact these roles are integral to our approach to patient care both face to face and on the telephone.

You will be expected to receive, assist, and direct patients either in person or via phone in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient, and effective way.

Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.

The successful candidates will be rotad to cover 16.5 hours per week Mon-Fri during opening hours 0800-1830.

A flexible approach to cover periods of absence for leave is required.

Main duties of the job

Handle patient requests promptly and courteously, redirecting queries as required eg. Doctors, Nurses.

Ensure filing and record keeping is undertaken with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency.

In accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, ensure a safe area of work for staff and patients visiting the Medical Centre.

Be competent in the use of the computer system to aid the efficient day to day running of the surgery.

Have a good working knowledge of the various services, both Private and NHS, provided by the Medical Centre.

Apply the patient Code of Confidentiality at all times.

Have a working knowledge and apply the principles of the Data Protection Act 1984.

Open, stamp and distribute all incoming post to the Medical Centre.

Have a good working knowledge of the telephone system.
