Job summary
Camberley Health Centre are seeking an experienced qualified phlebotomist to join our
friendly practice team. We require a phlebotomist to work 3-4 sessions per week over a
variety of shifts.
Main duties of the job
Working under the direction of the lead nurse and as part of the practice multidisciplinary team, the post holder will be responsible for performing venepuncture, as requested by the clinical team, to the entitled patient population. In addition, the Phlebotomist will be expected to support the nursing team on an as required basis.
Camberley Health Centre must ensure that the post holder has access to appropriate clinical supervision and an appropriate named individual in the organisation to provide general advice and support on a day-to-day basis.
The following are the core responsibilities of the Phlebotomist. There may be, on
occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors
such as workload and staffing levels:
a. Obtaining patient consent for the collection of a blood sample
b. Performing venepuncture in accordance with practice protocols
c. Maintaining accurate patient records on Emis
d. The correct labelling, packaging and storing of samples.
e. Effective use of the specimen log, resolving any discrepancies
f. Ensuring samples are sent to the laboratory in a timely manner.
g. Maintaining an effective liaison with the laboratory staff at Frimley Health
NHS Foundation Trust
h. Working collaboratively with the nursing team, seeking guidance when
necessary for patient related matters

We are a friendly practice, serving a diverse community of approximately 9,000 patient list. With a multi-disciplinary team compromising of GP's, Nurses, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Healthcare assistants, Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technician.
