Job summary

The Bank Receptionist / Driver is a key member of staff whose role is to support operational effectiveness of the Queen Mary Service. To ensure the smooth running of the reception team through the 7 days a week opening times. Provide transportation for staff and deliveries as required whilst maintaining vehicles and relevant records.

Bank Rates

Mon to Sun (8am to midnight) £13.17/£14.76 (with holiday pay) per hour.

Mon to Sun (midnight to 8am) £15.80 / £17.71 (with holiday pay) per hour.

Bank Holidays £19.75 / £22.13 (with holiday pay) per hour

Main duties of the job

  • The Bank Receptionist and Driver is a key member of staff whose role is to support operational effectiveness of the Queen Mary Service. To ensure the smooth running of the reception team through the 7 days a week opening times. They will work alongside the Manager and the practice team to provide a service to all patients.

  • Maintain accurate records and take and receive messages from 111, Operational Managers and any messages from external Stakeholder that require immediate input from the OOH GPs.

  • Follow instructions given by the Operational/Management Team, policies and procedures as documented throughout each shift.

  • Maintain both the interior and exterior cleanliness of the vehicle.

  • Report any personal or vehicle accident that may occur.

  • Planning efficient routes using the work mobile or a personal electronic device in order of medical priority and geographical area and ensuring that the National quality requirements are met.

  • Providing an escort to the duty GP, if requested, in the patients home, assisting and supporting as required.

  • Driving deliveries to other destinations at the request of the admin team.

  • Ensuring the safety and good working order of the vehicle and reporting any faults on a vehicle checklist.

  • Maintaining the cleanliness of the vehicle andvehicle records as required by BHNC.

Experience

Essential

  • Clean drivers licence with no points.
  • Dealing with the public on the phone.
  • Experience of Computer literacy, including MS word, excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work under pressure and remain calm.
  • Ability to utilise translation services with patients.
  • Ability to recognise unwell patients who may need immediate Clinical intervention in the waiting room.
  • To maintain a high level of customer care at all times.
  • To obtain and input patient demographic details onto the UTC patient database ensuring accuracy.
  • Ability to follow practice policies and procedures and ensure that patient paperwork is accurate and prepared in a timely manner.
  • Provide information and advice to patients and support colleagues.
  • Support practice performance by monitoring stock levels and actioning.
  • Experience of providing support to patients and work colleagues.
  • Excellent communication skills and able to communicate effectively and empathetically with all visitors to the department.
  • Experience of working a with patients and multi-disciplinary staff, ideally within a health care setting.
  • Experience of managing communication with the public and work colleagues and ability to communicate appropriately at all times, both verbally and in written communications.
  • Ability to meet daily deadlines and prioritise conflicting workload demands to meet patient needs.

Desirable

  • Working within a call centre environment.
  • Experience within the NHS.
  • Experience of using basic e triage tools.
  • Familiar with using Cleo IT and Emis IT system.
