Job summary

This is a full time role with Hybrid working, with the man office being based in Bexley Village

This is an established role with good foundation in place for the post holder to build on.

This role is strategically leading (on behalf of the BHNC) on and will be accountable for the quality of service provision and professional development of staff. This includes oversight of:

Clinical and quality audit plan

Management of risk register

Infection, prevention and control

Safeguarding

Health and safety

Alerts (MHRA / NPSA)

Incidents including significant events and near misses.

Development of clinical training matrix.

Supporting with the development of clinical workforce (MDT), includes ARRS.

Supporting COO and Board members with service developments and service redesign.

The post holder will be responsible for supporting PCN and BHNC clinical staff to reach their potential through mentorship, coaching and clinical supervision.

1.3 Key Responsibilities

Duties

Clinical Case load

To maintain competencies and up to date knowledge and skills in the area of expertise by undertaking patient facing clinical care. (Minimum expectation 20%)

Audit Plan

To develop and implement annual audit plan, capturing learnings and actions.

To update policies and procedures, reflecting any change in practice subject to learnings.

To share learning with all relevant staff.

To develop annual Board report capturing summary of annual audit plan.

Risk Register

To maintain an up to date risk register reflecting levels of risk, mitigation plans / action plans to mitigate against the risk.

To present high level risks to the board.

Infection Prevention and Control

To ensure policies are in place across the organisation and each service (where applicable) to ensure services are delivered in a safe manner.

To ensure regular IPC audits are undertaken. Taking steps to address any concerns.

Safeguarding

Ensure processes are in place to manage all safeguarding incidents.

Manage compliance to safeguarding training.

To keep polices up to date, reflecting any national changes.

Health and Safety

Ensure annual risk assessments are undertaken.

Monitor any action logs ensuring any high risks are implemented in a timely manner.

To maintain up to date policies to reflect national guidance.

Alerts and national guidance

To develop a framework to manage all quality and safety alerts and guidance such as MHRA / NICE etc..

o Ensure an up-to-date register is maintained

o Any urgent actions are addressed or implemented

o Any change in policy is reflected at local level

Incidents including Significant events and near misses

To ensure a robust process is in place to manage all incidents which:

o Recording of incidents

o Assessing if the incident is a significant event and take necessary actions.

o Ensure lessons are learned and disseminated

Training matrix:

Working with COO / head of operations to develop training matrix capturing training requirements for clinical staff to ensure they are competent to undertake their role.

To present training compliance report to Quality and operational meeting

Service development / redesign:

To work with board members to develop and design clinically safe services. This may be for newly commissioned services, redesigning services following review or to respond to procurement.

To review organisation performance against the five CQC domains and reporting on BHNC compliance status with action plans to address any concerns.

To develop reports for IGC meetings and Board as required.

Communication

To establish and maintain effective communication and liaison with all BHNC staff. Ensuring only the relevant level of information is shared in a timely manner with appropriate staff.

To help develop internal and external communications with the other company directors.

To communicate in a professional and sensitive manner with all staff and public (where relevant) taking into consideration their need for dignity, privacy and independence as well as their cultural and spiritual values.

To communicate and promote BHNC in a variety of forums as required.

To effectively communicate at all levels of the organisation to a variety of health and social care professionals working in primary, community and secondary care, out of hours providers, voluntary organisations and patients and carers.

To provide high quality written reports and any other written documentation as necessary.

To work with Board / Directors to assist in on going organisation reviews and developments which may be required to support the national primary care agenda including PCN developments.

Education, Training and Development

To access appropriate and relevant training opportunities that will enable effectively delivery of this role and further enhance both personal and professional development

Leadership / Management

To exercise leadership and professional judgment at all times, setting a good role model for junior staff.

The post holder may line manage other staff members and therefore will be responsible for setting clear objectives to help meet organisation priorities.

To ensure annual appraisals are completed for all direct reports and set agreed time for regular one to ones.

To work with HR manager in reviewing reasons for any high turnover and determine strategies to improve rates.
