Acorns Children's Hospice are looking for a Children's Palliative Clinical Lead to join the team in our Birmingham Hospice. About the Role

Acorns provides care for babies, children and young people, who have life-limiting or life-threatening conditions, both in our hospices and in their homes. Our nurses are part of a supportive, multi-disciplinary team delivering care packages that are tailored to each childs individual holistic needs and were structured so that youll simply have the time to care

As Children's Palliative Clinical Lead, you will:

  • Manage and be responsible for the supervision and development of a large multi-disciplinary team consisting of all grades of nursing staff, students and support workers
  • Manage and co-ordinate the clinical area, participating in direct patient care and supervision of staff.
  • Demonstrate expertise in symptom management and end of life care including after death care, to support staff to develop skills
  • Participate in the development and implementation of new initiatives and contribute to the advancement of clinical practice within the hospice
  • To promote communication with the children and young people, encouraging them to express their wishes and concerns to their best ability (this may include non-verbal, electronic or alternative communication methods)

  • Registered Nurse
  • Non-medical prescriber (or willing to undertake)
  • Leadership experience
  • Experience of palliative care
  • Care and Assessment of the acutely unwell child
