Job summary

Acorns Children's Hospice Trust are looking for Children's Palliative Community Staff Nurses for our Three Counties Hospice, Worcester to provide comprehensive, evidence based and skilled nursing care to children andyoungpeople whohavearangeofcomplexhealthneeds and life limiting or life-threatening conditions

Main duties of the job

As a Community Staff Nurse, you will:

  • Deliver evidence-based end of life and symptom management and after death care to children and young people outside of the hospice
  • Use clinical skills including, but not limited to, caring for children who require long term ventilation,tracheostomycare,oxygentherapy,suction, syringe drivers andenteralfeedsetc.Theseskillswillbe gained by completing competency-based training.
  • Be responsiblefortheassessment,developmentandevaluationofnursingcareforchildrenandyoungpeoplewithcomplexhealthneedsincludinglifelimitingandlife-threatening conditions and their families.
  • Promote communication with the children and young people, encouraging them to express their wishes and concerns to their best ability (this may include non-verbal, electronic or alternative communication methods)
  • Travel within a designated geographic area to visit patients in their homes or community settings
  • This role requires autonomous lone working, making clinical decisions and managing patient care independently while coordinating with other healthcare providers as necessary

  • Ability to travel independently around the Acorns region

Were open every day of the year and are fully responsive to the needs of our children and young people, so we will ask for some flexibility as there will be day and night shifts.
