Job summary

Food preparation, customer service and general duties associated with operating in a catering environment.

Main duties of the job

1. Prepare and cook basic meals within a catering environment in line with daily menus

2. Serve food and drink to customers. Ensure that customers receive an excellent dining experience in line with brand standards; including any additional service information to assist the customer

3. Maintain and operate a high standard of customer service, operating at all times in a professional and courteous manner towards colleagues and customers; highlighting any special dietary information as required

4. Maintain high standards of safe, hygienic food presentation at all times

5. To monitor and record food safety and due diligence records accurately and timely, to ensure food safe practices are maintained

6. To ensure all food preparation, service, dining areas and ancillary areas are kept hygienically clean; contributing to the maintenance and overall cleanliness of the environment through basic cleaning tasks

7. To assist with ordering, receipt and correct storage of stock, following Fist In First Out principals of stock rotation and management

8. To maintain a high standard of personal hygiene and appearance within the workplace and to minimum brand standards

Birchwood is our flagship residential treatment unit that provides evidence-based and medically managed detoxification services to dependant alcohol and drug users. The unit has capacity for 20 bed spaces and provides both clinical and therapeutic treatment packages. Referrals are accepted from community drug and alcohol services across the UK.

For alcohol dependence, Birchwood supports service users who are assessed as suitable for residential detoxification, providing a safe and supervised withdrawal from alcohol. Service users will be screened for clinical dependence in line with ICD-10 diagnostic criteria to assess suitability, using the Severity of Alcohol Dependence Questionnaire (SADQ).

For Opiate dependence, Birchwood supports service users who are assessed as suitable for residential detoxification using methadone, buprenorphine and Iofexidine.

Birchwood is our flagship residential treatment unit that provides evidenced-based and medically managed detoxification services to dependent alcohol and drug users. The unit has capacity for 20 bed spaces and provides both clinical and therapeutic treatment packages. Referrals are accepted from community drug and alcohol services across the UK

10. To bring to the attention of the Line Manager areas of specific concern about any aspect of the service, including concerns about colleague conduct or standards

11. To assist the Line Manager in developing and maintaining good working relationships internally and externally

12. In all circumstances to promote the best interests of Birchwood and support the overall promotion of the service

13. To undertake such training as the agency may require to maintain the delivery of quality services

14. Attend Company Training Courses and Meetings as requested

15. To perform any other duties as deemed appropriate by management

16. To ensure the environment and any associated fixtures, fittings or equipment are maintained and any repairs/breakages reported promptly to the supervisor or another manager

17. To ensure that all property belonging to Kaleidoscope Project is properly utilised and cared for

NVQ Level 1 Food Hygiene is Essential

It is essential that the post-holder establishes and maintains good working relationships with clients, customers, staff and undertakes working in a friendly, courteous, professional and approachable manner. Failure in this area is likely to cause the post-holder to be inappropriate for the work involved.

Although all staff are appointed to work in specific areas of Kaleidoscope it must be understood that all appointments are made to Kaleidoscope as a whole. In time of need, management are able to mobilize the staffing resource of Kaleidoscope to meet these needs.

You will need to provide evidence of your COVID-19 vaccination status, where you will be required to have had both vaccinations, plus any booster vaccinations as required. Failure to provide this information or to take up the vaccination may mean your contract will be terminated, unless you have reasonable grounds, e.g. you are medically exempt.
