Occupational Therapist

Job responsibilities

Clinically responsible for the delivery and co-ordination of bespoke Occupational Therapy intervention to provide timely holistic, palliative care assessments across the Inpatient, Day Therapy and Outpatient Services for LOROS working jointly on therapeutic goals and interventions with the Enablement Physiotherapists and Senior Therapy Assistant.

They will participate in the ongoing development of these services, alongside active participation in the provision of education and clinical supervision of staff and students.

Qualifications

Essential

• - Diploma/BSc in Occupational Therapy.
• - HCPC registration

• - RCOT membership
• - Communication skills training

Experience

Essential

• - Experience of working with patients with palliative care needs.
• - Experience in statutory sector hospice/community.
• - Ability to use initiative and be adaptable.
• - Evidence of Continued Professional Development (CPD)
• - Knowledge of Palliative and End of life care.
• - Able to prioritise work.
• - Good decisive and organisational skills.
• - Excellent communication skills; written and verbal.
• - Delegation and supervision skills for junior members of the team and -students.
• - IT / computer / keyboard skills.

Desirable

• - RCOT membership
• - Communication skills training
• - Evidence of relevant post-graduate study.
• - Experience of research/audit and Outcome measures.
• - Staff and student supervision experience
• - Full UK Driving license with Business insurance to use own car for community home visiting
• - Experience of working alongside assistants and delegating tasks appropriately.
• - Group work experience
• - Neurological knowledge and skills
• - Knowledge and experience of Mental Capacity Act (MCA) and safeguarding
