Job summary
We are seeking a professional and friendly Receptionist / Prescription Clerk to join our team. The ideal candidate will be the first point of contact for our patients and visitors, providing exceptional customer service while managing various tasks. This role is essential in ensuring the smooth operation of our GP Practice.
Main duties of the job
- Maintaining and monitoring the Practice appointments system
- Processing personal requests for appointments, visits and telephone consultations and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional.
- Processing and distributing incoming and outgoing mail.
- Explaining practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover and ensure procedures are completed.
- Receiving and making telephone calls as required. Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery.
- Processing prescriptions in accordance with practice guidelines
- Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with Practice procedures.
- Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team members and associated healthcare agencies and providers
- Advise patients of relevant charges for private (non-General Medical Services), accept payment and issue receipts.
- Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms as required.
- Providing administrative support to the Practice as required, including filing, photocopying and scanning.
- Keeping the reception area, noticeboards, and leaflet dispensers tidy and free from obstructions and clutter
- Providing cover for reception / administrative colleagues during absence due to holiday or sick leave.
