Job summary
We are seeking an
enthusiastic and motivated Salaried GP (6 sessions) to join our team under the
Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme (ARRS).
You will provide
high-quality, patient-centered care while working as part of a multidisciplinary
team. This role is open to both recently qualified GP's and GP's currently
seeking a fresh start, offering the opportunity to develop your clinical skills
and confidence in a supportive environment. You will manage a range of acute
and chronic conditions, participate in health promotion and contribute to
team-based care plans, with appropriate supervision. The post encourages
professional growth through regular feedback, mentoring and opportunities for
further training in line with early-career development.
Main duties of the job
Provide high-quality
general medical services to registered patients in line with GMS requirements
and best clinical practice.
Undertake face-to-face,
telephone and online consultations, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment
and follow-up of acute and chronic conditions.
Manage urgent and
routine appointments, ensuring appropriate clinical prioritisation and patient
safety.
Provide ongoing
care and reviews for patients with long term conditions, including medication
reviews and care planning.
Prescribe safely
and effectively in accordance with local and national guidelines and practice
policies.
Work
collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team, including nurses,
pharmacists, physiotherapists and other ARRS roles.
Participate in clinical
governance activities, including audit, quality improvement and significant
event reviews.
Maintain accurate,
timely and comprehensive clinical records using the practice clinical system
(EMIS).
Contribute to the
delivery of safe, effective and patient-centered care, with due regard to
safeguarding, confidentiality and equality.
Support continuity
of care, including involvement in the management of vulnerable, complex and
palliative patients, where appropriate.
Engage in continuous
professional development, appraisal and revalidation in line with GMC
requirements.
Contribute to
service development and improvement within the practice and PCN, where
appropriate to the role.

Poplars Surgery is
a well established traditional GP practice based in Erdington, Birmingham (B24
9JN), serving approximately 14,500 socially and culturally diverse patients. We
have strong roots in the local community and are committed to delivering high quality,
patient centred care.
We are a friendly,
supportive and inclusive multidisciplinary team, comprising four GP partners,
four practice nurses, a nursing associate, a healthcare assistant and a First
Contact Physiotherapist (employed via ARRS). This is supported by an
experienced and dedicated management, administrative and reception team.

As a General Practitioner (GP) employed through the Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme (ARRS) within a Primary Care Network (PCN), you will provide high-quality, patient-centred care while working as part of a multidisciplinary team. You will manage a range of acute and chronic conditions, participate in health promotion and contribute to team-based care plans, with appropriate supervision. The post encourages professional growth through regular feedback, mentoring and opportunities for further training in line with early-career development.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Provide timely and effective consultations with patients in person and via telephone.
- Manage a wide range of clinical presentations, including acute illnesses, chronic diseases, and preventive health issues.
- Triaging and conducting home visits where clinically appropriate for housebound patients.
- Provide ongoing care for patients with long-term conditions, including care planning and regular reviews.
- Prescribe medications safely in line with current guidance and the local formulary.
- Review and action pathology results, correspondence, and medication requests efficiently and accurately.
- Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
- Promote health education and preventative strategies to support patient wellbeing.
- Refer patients to secondary or specialist care where appropriate and ensure continuity of care.
- Maintain accurate, comprehensive, and contemporaneous patient records using the clinical IT system.
Administrative Duties
- Participate in the daily clinical workload including document management, prescription requests, referrals, and results processing.
- Ensure follow-up of patients as clinically indicated and arrange appropriate reviews.
- Contribute to the development and review of practice protocols and clinical guidelines.
- Work in line with CQC standards and participate in audit and quality improvement activities.
Professional Responsibilities
- Maintain professional registration and comply with GMC regulations and revalidation requirements.
- Participate in annual appraisal and develop a Personal Development Plan (PDP).
- Keep up to date with evidence-based practice, NICE guidance, and local pathways.
