Job summary
To provide a high-quality phlebotomy service to patients registered at Brook Lane Surgery by safely and efficiently collecting blood samples for investigation, diagnosis, and monitoring. The post holder will deliver compassionate, patient-centred care and contribute to the overall effectiveness of the clinical team.
Main duties of the job
Undertake venepuncture and capillary blood sampling in line with agreed clinical protocols and best practice.Correctly identify patients and obtain informed consent prior to all procedures.Accurately label, handle, store, and prepare blood specimens for laboratory collection.Recognise, manage, and appropriately respond to complications of venepuncture (e.g. fainting, bruising, bleeding).Provide reassurance and clear explanations, particularly to anxious, elderly, or vulnerable patients.Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organised clinical and treatment area at all times.
